Time-lapsed photography
Finally had a moment today sit down at the Toronto's Harbourfront and test the time-lapsed photography feature in my new pocket Canon PowerShot SD870IS. Using my Gorillapod I set up the camera overlooking the lake (it's a Canadian holiday so there are more people out on the water than normally on Tuesday) and let it run for 10 min. shooting every 2 seconds. The result straight from the camera is below - it produced a nicely captured, time-lapsed 20 second video.
In other words, if I were to leave it on for a full hour (unfortunately, my battery was running low already today), I would have got a 2 min. worth of time-lapsed video instead of 20 seconds. Next time, where I am somewhere where it is busy, I will try it again and read a book for an hour while the camera is shooting... Pretty neat feature to have, it would be great to shoot like this things like flower opening or may be busy highway from above or speeding clouds across the sky! The best part is I do not have to do any post production on it, it is ready straight out of the camera...
